Alina Masud Accident, Niagara Falls, ON Death, Denis Morris Catholic High School student has died

The Niagara community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 18-year-old Alina Masud, a resident of Niagara Falls and a student at Denis Morris Catholic High School in St. Catharines. According to tributes shared by friends and community members, Alina died in a car accident, leaving her family, friends, classmates, and loved ones devastated by the sudden and tragic loss.

Alina was remembered as a bright, kind, determined young woman who had only just begun to build her future. She graduated from high school earlier this year and had recently started her university studies in September—an exciting milestone she had worked hard to reach. Friends say she was filled with hope, ambition, and enthusiasm for the next chapter of her life.

Those who knew her described Alina as the kind of person who made others feel welcome and valued. She was known for her gentle nature, her ability to listen, and the sincere care she showed toward the people around her. Many of her peers considered her not just a friend, but a grounding presence—someone whose kindness left a lasting impression.

Her passing has brought a wave of grief throughout the community, especially among students and staff at Denis Morris Catholic High School, where she was well liked and respected. The loss of someone so young and full of promise has left classmates struggling to make sense of the tragedy.

A heartfelt message shared online by Mekhi Edwards captured the deep sorrow felt by those closest to her. “Our beloved young sister Alina Masud has passed away at the age of 18 due to a car accident,” he wrote. “She was an amazing friend, sister, and daughter and had just started her university degree this September.” He went on to ask the community to support the family during this difficult time, including through donations toward funeral costs.

Mekhi also encouraged the community to keep Alina and her family in their prayers, sharing the Islamic supplication traditionally read upon someone’s passing:

“Allaahummaghfir li (name of the person) warfa’ darajatahu fil-mahdiyyeena, wakhlufhu fee ‘aqibihi fil-ghaabireena, waghfir-lanaa wa lahu yaa Rabbal-‘aalameena, wafsah lahu fee qabrihi wa nawwir lahu feehi.”

This prayer, often recited to ask for mercy, forgiveness, and peace for the departed, reflects the profound spiritual support being extended to Alina’s grieving family.

As news of her death spread, messages of love and remembrance poured in from friends, teachers, and families across the Niagara region. Many spoke of her bright smile, her warmth, and the potential she carried with her—a future tragically cut short.

While no words can ease the pain of such a sudden loss, the community continues to gather around the Masud family with compassion, prayers, and support. Alina’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, in the friendships she nurtured, and in the love she shared during her all-too-brief life.
